Towns of South-East Spain - Costa Blanca South
Javea
Javea
is a maritime town between the San Antonio and La Nao capes
protected by the Montgó Mountain just one hour north
of Alicante airport. Once there you can take your pick –
Javea town, Javea’s Arenal beach (all 25 km of it) or
Javea harbour – 3 quite distinct areas to enjoy in this
ever popular area. The town itself is about 3 km inland and
the old part is very nice to stroll around taking in the lovely
traditional houses with nice little balconies - tosca porticoes,
gothic windows and luminous patios.
The fortress church San Bartome, is late gothic and worth
seeing.
Try to visit the Church of Our Lady of Loreto near the old
fishing quarter – it’s very peaceful unlike the
indoor market, which is a hive of activity – apparently
it use to be a nunnery up until the 1950’s and is well
worth a visit. In the Montgó Natural Park (Les Planes)
visit the windmills to get the best views of the bay.
There are around 25,000 people living in Javea and Aduanas
del Mar is the urban center developed around the harbour to
serve the people of Javea.
This is a long established town with an infrastructure well
suited to cater for families. There are some excellent schools
in the area and good medical facilities.
Property types and prices vary considerably and there are
some very nice new developments under construction for those
looking for investment opportunities.
